WRIST ICONS is proud to present you a very nice original Omega Seamaster ST 105.005-64 with a very rare extendable Omega beads of rise bracelet.
Launched in 1948 to coincide with the brand’s 100th anniversary, the Omega Seamaster line is the oldest in the current collection. Loosely based on the waterproof wristwatches made for the British military at the end of World War II, the Seamaster was first intended as a robust yet elegant watch for active individuals who wanted a watch for town, sea and country.
The Seamaster line gave birth to Omega's powerful family of diving instruments, including the Seamaster Diver 300m Bond watch. The Seamaster was the civilian answer to the robust models designed to withstand the most grueling conditions imaginable. It was a direct descendant of Omega's utilitarian wristwatches supplied in bulk to the British Ministry of Defence during WWII.
René Bannwart is regarded as the founder of the Omega Seamaster collection. In 1940, the man who would later found Corum began constructing Omega's design department. This was something new. Draftsmen in watch-case factories used to draw sketches for new models at the time. Bannwart's decision set Omega on a new path, which other brands quickly followed.
Omega sales director Adolphe Vallat commissioned Bannwart to create a sporty, robust, and waterproof wristwatch to commemorate Omega's 100th anniversary. Because Bannwart felt Vallat wasn't giving him enough time, he presented one of his case designs with the comment "much too clunky." Vallat was overjoyed, much to Bannwart's surprise. As a result, the Seamaster family was born.
The initial 1948 civilian version of the pilots’ watch had a water-resistant case (to 50 meters), a screwed caseback with lead gaskets, a reinforced crystal, a silvered dial, and polished and riveted Arabic numerals.
One can consider the Omega Seamaster line-up to be two lines in one: the big, heavy Seamaster Professional, designed for divers for deep diving, and a dress range also named Seamaster.
The chronograph references, in particular, provide a significant value proposition in addition to tremendous design and horological chops, especially when you consider that some are powered by the famous Calibre 321.
This particular Omega Seamaster ST 105.0005-64 has just undergone a full service. This work was carried out by our watchmaker using original parts. They also place a new original Omega plexi-glass with the Omega symbol in the center.
As with all of our pre-owned watches this watch comes with a full 12 month WRIST ICONS warranty that will be invoked from the day of purchase. Further: everything is cleaned before sending the items.
