The Rolex Day-date was the first watch to have an Day and date complication. On the top of the dial, a date aperture; and at three o’clock, a date display, complete with the classic Rolex cyclops. The Day Date was available in white gold, yellow gold, rose gold and platinum.

In the late 50s and 60s Rolex advertised the Oyster Day Date watch as a watch worn by the leaders of the world. They marketed in advertisements these watches with slogans like: “Men who guide the destinies of the world wear Rolex watches”. Due to this marketing strategy it became the watch to wear if you would have made it. It looked amazing. It was a very expensive watch, and the case and bracelet were completely made out of gold.
Although he wasn’t the first president to own a Day-Date, Lyndon B. Johnson was undoubtedly the first world leader to contribute to the its reputation as the watch of presidents and world leaders.
