Why should you buy this watch? This is a real great watch based on the original iconic design of the legendary watch designer Gérald Genta (1931-2011). Throughout his career, Gérald Genta designed many iconic wath pieces that stood the test of time. He draw the design of the Royal Oak in the 70s, a watch that’s is to be considered one of his best designs among with watches as the Patek Nautilus and the and the Universal Polerouter. Also he re-designed IWC Ingenieur as well as the Omega Constellation.
In April 1972 Audemars Piguet introduced the first Royal Oak at the annual Swiss Watch Show in Basel (later renamed BaselWorld). The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak was the first modern watch carrying a haute horlogerie price tag to be cased in stainless steel. They also marketed this watch in that kind of manner. They actually advertised with a slogan: “Introducing steel at the price of gold. And other rewarding contradictions”. The Royal Oak was launched in steel and it came with a hefty price. The public was quite hesitant at the beginning but embraced the design later and it became a huge success.

It is one of the few global haute horology brands that remains in the hands of its founding family, with several members of the Audemars family still sitting on its board of directors.
This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak (It is named after a famous battleship) has as a stainless steel case with diameter 36 mm, an integral stainless steel bracelet with a with concealed folding depression clasp, and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. It has a solid screw-down case back secured with 8 screws, and a screw-down hexagonal locking winding-crown. The octagonal Bezel was inspired by the diver's helmet. The bezel has 8 hexagonal gold nuts that are set with the 8 screws on the case back.
The 36mm diameter solid three-body case, has integral lugs, and flat bezel are polished/brushed on a really high level of craftmanship.
The beautiful dial has been made by Fabrique de Cadrans Stern Frères, or Stern Creations, Patek Philippe’s dial maker. It is a white dial with a tapisserie structure also named a white “Clous de Paris”. It has applied luminous white gold baton indexes, luminous white gold baton hands, and an outer minute track. The dial has a sub-dial at 9 o’clock which states the days and at 3 o’clock a sub-dial that shows the days of the month and a moon phase sub dial is positioned at 6 o'clock.
This Audemars Piquet Royal Oak Moonphase is water resistant to 50 meters/165 feet, and it has a 60-hour power serve at full wind.
The 9mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.
The mechanical automatic self-winding Audemars Piguet caliber 2224/2825 is rhodium-plated, with engine-turned "Grande Tapisserie" and "Cotes de Genève" decorative patterns. This watch has the Jaeger Le Coultre base caliber 224/2825 with a Dubois Dépraz Day Date and Moonphase module attached to it.
It's constructed with a shock absorber mechanism, 38 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and a monometallic balance. It includes a self-compensating flat balance spring, and a 21K gold rotor segment.
The watch is in a very good condition, the movement has been serviced by our watchmaker and polished in like new condition. The serial number is D Series – which were produced from 1987 to 1994. You will get one year Wrist Icons warranty on the movement.
