Luxury watches aren’t cheap. If you are on the hunt for a new watch you want to be 100% certain that you buy your watch from a trustworthy seller. People often say "Buy the seller" meaning that you have to buy from reputable seller. But besides that it is also important that you have buyer protection. The core of our business is built on trust. We have taken the risk for you to make sure everything is authentic (if not always stated). And we know that it’s hard to trust a faceless internet business. If you have questions or concerns, our team is available via direct message, email, or phone.

Your trust in WRIST ICONS is very important to us. We have experienced ourselves the good and the bad from buying with all kind of sellers. Our mission is to give you the best possible service and customer journey. If you have pulled the trigger to purchase your new pre-owned watch at WRIST ICONS,  you will be secured that you have bought an original watch with 100% original parts.

WRIST ICONS certifies that every piece we sell is 100% real and authentic. We don’t accept any items that are knock-offs or that contain parts unacceptable to Swiss standards. We have full-time watchmakers on staff with more than 20 years of experience in authenticating and servicing luxury watches. WRIST ICONS verifies the authenticity of each and every item through a multi-point process, and if any items do not fit our rigorous quality standards, we don’t accept them. If, for whatever reason, you find your watch is not authentic, we offer a money-back guarantee and will refund 100% of the purchase price.

Most of our watches are bought or consigned from individuals, but we also work with several (retail partners) who round out our inventory selection. We go to business to business fairs with only registered dealers and sometimes we buy at auctions.

We do our research. We’ve spent the last years gathering data from Chrono24, eBay, auction results, forum sales, and our own transactions to get a real-time pulse on the secondhand watch market. We do this in order to determine the fairest price for any given watch, in real-time.

We are available by email ([email protected]) and by phone [(+31) (0)634141572] or shoot me a direct message on Instagram. Our office hours are from 9:00am-5:00pm ET, and we try to return after-hours and weekend messages as soon as possible the next business day.

If WRIST ICONS is purchasing your timepiece for over 5,000 euros we may include a POST NL or DHL Shipment Receipt. We insure our packages through a third party shipping provider, and they are responsible for the insured value of a watch during transit. The amount indicated on the form that comes with a shipping label is 5,000.00euros because that is the maximum amount that UPS will insure a package. Our third party shipping provider has insured all watches for the purchase price.

The huge majority of our stock is purchased under the VAT margin scheme, whereby it is not possible for non EU residents to reclaim VAT. We may on occasion be able to supply goods on a VAT invoice if items have not been purchased under the VAT margin scheme. Please contact us for further details.

What is a margin invoice

A margin invoice is applied by companies that trade in second-hand goods such as cars, art and antiques. The difference between a normal VAT invoice and a margin invoice is that with a margin invoice only VAT is calculated on the margin and not the entire amount on the invoice.

If a merchant sells second-hand goods from a private individual to his customer, he will usually draw up a margin invoice. Because the private individual, from whom he has bought the goods, has paid VAT but can not reclaim it, the trader actually buys the product, even if it is second-hand, with VAT. This VAT can not be reclaimed from the trader. In the case of a Margin invoice, the merchant only charges VAT to his customer on his margin. However, this VAT may not be mentioned on the invoice. The VAT may not be recovered by the buyer.

The margin and the VAT calculated on the margin must be recorded separately so that it can be paid to the tax authorities with the VAT return.

A margin invoice may only be used for goods that are traded commercially. A company that acts in art can not make a margin on invoices when reselling a laptop. But of course with the reselling of art. The same applies the other way around.

From the Dutch Tax Administration:

If you sell margin goods, you do not state VAT on the invoice. VAT is included in your price. Is your customer an entrepreneur who can deduct VAT? Then he can not deduct the VAT. It is then more advantageous for him if you use the normal VAT scheme. With each sale you may choose not to apply the margin scheme, but the normal VAT scheme. In that case, you calculate VAT on the sales price. You then state VAT on the invoice.

Example: difference margin scheme and normal VAT regulation

You have purchased a cabinet for € 4,000. You want to earn € 1,000. The sales price if you apply the margin scheme:

Purchase price

€ 4,000

Profit margin excluding VAT

€ 1,000

----------- +

Sales price excluding VAT

€ 5,000

VAT on profit margin (21% over € 1,000)
(You can not state this VAT on the invoice.)
€ 210

----------- +

Selling price

€ 5.210

The selling price if you apply the standard VAT scheme:

Purchase price

€ 4,000

Profit margin excluding VAT

€ 1,000

----------- +

Sales price excluding VAT

€ 5,000

VAT (21% over € 5,000)

€ 1,050

----------- +

Selling price

€ 6.050
