Crafted in 950 platinum, this skeletonized masterpiece bridges the past and the present: a direct descendant of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s 1801 invention of the tourbillon and a symbol of the maison’s rebirth under master watchmaker Daniel Roth.
A Tribute to Abraham-Louis Breguet’s Legacy
In 1795, Abraham-Louis Breguet began experimenting with a mechanism designed to counteract the effects of gravity on a watch’s regulating organ. The result was the tourbillon regulator, patented on June 26, 1801. During his lifetime, the maestro produced just 35 tourbillon watches, each individually crafted and sold to royalty, scientists, and elite clients such as King George III and Count Stanislas Potocki.
These original tourbillons were marvels of both science and art — and the Classique 3355 carries that same spirit forward. Its calibre 558 SQ1 (sometimes noted as 402SQ in earlier descriptions) is entirely hand-finished, open-worked, and features a one-minute tourbillon visible at six o’clock, echoing Breguet’s earliest pocket chronometers.

Daniel Roth and the Modern Renaissance of Breguet
After the brand’s revival in the late 1970s under Chaumet, Daniel Roth — a young but extraordinarily talented watchmaker trained at Audemars Piguet — was entrusted with rebuilding Breguet’s horological identity. Roth reintroduced traditional Breguet codes: the fluted caseband, guilloché dial, coin-edge bezel, and blued hands, all rooted in the 18th-century designs of the founder.
Roth’s influence is immediately visible in the Classique 3350 (time-only) and its more complex sibling, the Classique 3355 with tourbillon. Introduced in the early 1990s, these models distilled everything Roth believed Breguet should be: restrained proportions, meticulous finishing, and a reverence for hand craftsmanship.
The 3355 is therefore not merely a complication watch — it’s a philosophical statement. It represents Daniel Roth’s vision of mechanical transparency and purity, combined with Abraham-Louis Breguet’s pioneering technical invention. Every bridge is engraved and beveled by hand; the skeletonized architecture reveals the flow of energy from barrel to escapement, offering both beauty and mechanical honesty.
