WRIST ICONS brings you a very rare Gübelin triple date moon Ipsomatic Square with a Felsa-693 caliber also known as the GÜBELIN CIOCCOLATONE ASTRONOMIC. This is a very fine and very rare, self-winding, stainless steel, square curved wristwatch with a silver dial and day, date, month and very nice executed moon phase.

This watch has been made in the 1950s. Most of these are made in gold, not very often you see them in stainless steel. The case dimensions are 32 x 30 mm and it houses a very refined automatic movement made by Felsa, the 693 Bidynator caliber. The Felsa 693 movement has the distinction of being the first commercial movement with a winding mechanism that wound in both directions.

What sets this watch apart besides it’s stainless steel case, is the beautiful opaline dial with the gorgeous Breguet painted numerals. Watch comes with a gorgeous period correct red GUBELIN IPSOMATIC watch box.

Similar watch has been offered in 2018 at Antiquorum auction.

What is the origin of Gübelin

Gübelin is a family owned company that started in 1854. With the opening of a small watchmaker’s shop in the Swiss city of Lucerne, the business grew over time, moving to ever-larger locations in the city until finally settling in the prime site on the quay that still houses Gübelin’s Lucerne boutique today.

How to set the Felsa 693 movement?

You can only use the  day and month pushers of this Gubelin Ipsomatic if you have turned 12 hours further after the date switch. So turn 12 hours further after date switching and only then use the poussoirs.
